Meeting 6 & 7

Our sixth and seventh week we will break down cleansing and fasting in more depth.

This week our theme question is - might cleansing or (any type of) fasting fit into my life? Some sub-questions may be -

  • what do feel I may benefit from ‘cleansing’ from?

  • what are my reactions to what i know about fasting?

  • how might cleansing and fasting support my short term goals?

  • how might cleansing and fasting support my long term goals?

As we prepare to move into long term eating (after completing the January ‘cleanse’ portion), feel free to continue to bring any questions, reflections or feedback you would like to share.

This week we will cover:

  • What does it mean to cleanse?

  • What types of dietary cleanses are there?

  • What is Fasting (water, dry, extended)?

  • What is Intermittent Fasting?

  • What are the benefits of Fasting?

  • What does fasting mean?

  • What is Detox and how does that cross over with cleansing and fasting?

  • What activities outside of eating may be part of cleansing, fasting or detoxing?

This week’s journal questions:

There are no right or wrong answers, just the opportunity to get to know ourselves better through inquiry.

·       If i were to take a break from anything in my life it would be…..

·      My belief that i might benefit from a break comes from….

·      If i could detox one thing, thought, belief, etc, without necessarily changing anything i do, it would be….

·       If i were to cleanse, fast, detox this thing, my life would…

This week’s practice:

Every day take time to appreciate 3 things about your life (outside of yourself). Create a routine of when to do this - perhaps before going to sleep, or first thing in the morning. The ‘things’ can be small and simple. They can be the same things everyday. Simply say (or write), “I appreciate xxx”.
