Meeting 8

Our Eighth week we will look at Supplementation and how to get nutrients via food.

This week our theme question is - Am I getting all of the nutrition needed to optimize my health? Some sub-questions may be -

  • Is my macronutrient content serving me?

  • Do i get enough micronutrients?

  • Am I digesting and absorbing the nutrition I’m consuming?

As always, feel free to continue to bring any questions, reflections or feedback you would like to share.




This week we will cover:

  • What health benefits do each Macronutrient offer?

  • How can we tell if we have enough of each Macronutrient?

  • Review the benefits of Micronutrients

  • Some ways to assess if we are getting enough micronutrients

  • Strategies to get more Micronutrients into our daily diet

  • What supplements tend to be needed by most people?

  • What about the rest of the supplements out there?

  • What is the value of getting all of my nutrition via food? Is that even possible?



This week’s journal questions:

Track 3 days of eating in a row. Note the following:

·     Meal time - note start and end time (include duration)

·     Meal Content - be specific with portion and all ingredients

·     Where and with whom was the meal taken?

·     Note how you feel before and after the meal

  • Option - add notes about daily exercise or other activity

Tracking and reviewing without judgment will bring presence to our food choices and provide insight beyond what we may imagine.



This week’s practice:

Adding adventure (and nutrient rich food) daily. Let’s eat the rainbow every day! And/or ‘booster’ foods. Each day find a meal or between meals (ex-tea) to add more micronutrient power to our diet. Use your journal to track your adventure.
